As a mom of three girls and a photographer, I understand the importance of ease and comfort when it comes to family photo shoots; especially in the early days of bringing your newborn home from the hospital. A familiar environemnt promotes calmess- especially for a newborn. Even though they are very new to this world, your baby (and possibly older siblings) are used to their home. They are comfortable in their surroundings, at ease with the temperature of your home and the noises of your family and how they typically function. It's a fact of life: babies are naturally more relaxed in their own surroundings. Another huge plus is there is a ton of flexibility around your baby's needs. You know where their clothes, diapers and washcloths are. We can pause sessions as often as needed for feedings and to sooth your little one. Another huge plus is that when I leave, your newborn will usually be exhausted and you can jump in your pajamas while he or she sleeps.

Encouraging Genuine Family Connection

Genuine family connection can be captured anywhere--- but it is especially apparent in your own home. Parents and siblings are way more relaxed and affectionate in familiar spaces. It's just another fact of life. Authentic moments emerge without staged or forced poses. Being in your own space also provides a wonderful opportunity to bring in grandparents or great grandparents who may be hesitant to come to a studio or outdoor setting.
